Careers Forum: Squiggly Careers

St Paul’s Girls’ School invites WLP students to attend their Squiggly Careers Forum.

With the World Economic Forum predicting that the future workforce is likely to have three different careers and at least 12 different jobs, and employment experts forecasting a rapid pace of change in employment and that individuals will need to become lifelong learners to prepare for multiple career changes throughout their working lives the concept of a ‘squiggly career’ is more relevant than ever.  Unlike traditional, linear career paths, which would include studying at the outset, working for most of an adult life, and then retiring, squiggly careers are all about switching things up, changing the order of things; and ultimately introducing flexibility, variety, and adaptability to careers.

We will be hearing from a panel of SPGS alumnae including:

Thomasina Miers, OBE – Thomasina started her career as a Journalist, went on to win MasterChef, and then founded Mexican restaurant Wahaca.

Isabella Hislop – started her career as a solicitor after reading Law and now runs Commercial Strategy at Chelsea Football Club.

Katie Swash – started her career as an RAF Intelligence Office, then became a Management Consultant, then started her own business.
